New York Trip

I have ALWAYS wanted to visit New York for as long as I can remember.

Due to the fact that our spring semester doesn’t start until the end of January, I figured this would be the perfect time to finally visit NYC! I reached out to my girls who just so happened to have the same schedule, and they were just as excited about the idea. Our group consisted of me, my sister Katherine, and our two friends Brittany and Lorrie.

We decided to plan our trip when we saw that the tickets out to New York were only $230 ROUND TRIP! What started as a spontaneous quick trip to New York, turned into an 8-day trip to 4 different states. Don’t get me wrong, we had an UH-MAZING trip…but we definitely could have done without all of the traveling issues we experienced. Long story short, we experienced a total of 3 delayed flights, and 2 canceled tickets (which as you can imagine led to hotel issues as well). On the bright side, we unintentionally were able to visit a total of 4 different states! Illinois, New York, New Jersey, and Michigan (in that order). As Britt kept reminding us, “Nothing went as planned, but everything is perfect”.

I debated bringing my camera on this trip because I didn’t want to make it feel like “work”, and I also didn’t want to lug it around all day… However, I ended up bringing it along because I figured it would be fun to try and capture our experiences in the most candid way possible while we were on the trip (aside from the obvious posed pics).

Anyways, New York was everything I could have expected and I loved everything about it! I actually wished I had gone to college there after seeing how much I enjoyed it on the first day! We had a pretty loose Itinerary and ended up checking off most of the things on our list. Regardless of most peoples recommendations to take the subway, we ended up UBER-ing most places we went which also allowed us to meet so many cool people! We also ate pizza in almost every state we visited and it was bombbbb. We spent most of our days jam packed with super touristy things (Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, etc.)…except for that one day when it rained and we stayed in bed till 3pm. We got sooo many recommendations for different places to visit but with the crazy freezing weather (9 degrees), we weren’t able to see everything so we will definitely be coming back!
